HCI Experience

I love the poem “My Journey” by Carol Phillips very much. It  reminds me of my current life in Hwa Chong Institution.  There are tons of homework and many things that I have to find out myself. There is once when I got lost in school and did not know where to go for the next lesson, for the rest of my classmates already have moved on, but still, after running around the school, I finally found the place, which the location will forever be etched in my mind. Sometimes I cry, because I thought I cannot complete my homework. I am constantly worried; for fear that I may miss out any homework or tasks. Every day I would have to check the EMBS, New IVLE etc to check out some important announcements and homework. But once I enter the IVLE, I would find myself nowhere, because as I opened the files that contained homework/ references, a list of references/ guides will come out, and that is only one file. But now, I am quite used to the erratic life, of independence studies and yeah, homework. Nowadays checking the EMBS and IVLE is a daily routine and I am used to sleeping at 11.30 pm (latest 12.30pm). Now I am used to the homework and they are now getting less of a hurdle to me. I find myself finding more than just homework and studies; I found friends, in fact many of them. They constantly challenge me to work hard, help me when I am in dilemma, and I am thankful to them for that. Now I believe, all the home works, tasks are all just hurdles that I must get over with. Every time I cross one, I will get stronger and the next hurdle will be less of a challenge to me. In the end, I will cross hurdles with ease and I believe that as long as my determination, my will never wavers, I will overcome any obstacles and hurdles and finally taste the pulp of the fruit, which is getting into secondary 2.

Let me share with you the last part of my favourite poem:

“Reaching my destination…did not come without effort

At times it was hard work

It was obstacles, road blocks and brick walls

And sometimes…not

And I do believe I am stronger for it”
